Creative Zen Vision
Navigation System (Continued)
Next is the "System" menu.
"Information" shows, well, information about the Zen Vision.

I liked the fact that Creative included Smart Volume, which normalises audio so you do not get a sudden increase in volume while listening to your music. Bass Boost was also very thoughtful, especially for watching movies, since it gives an extra punch to the sound.
The usual Play Modes are available.

The Zen Vision comes with 8 EQ presets, as well as a 5-band Custom EQ.

"Photo/Video Settings" lets you change the slideshow interval (for viewing pictures), and set the video output (PAL or NTSC).

"Player Settings" lets you change settings of the Zen Vision, such as the name of the player, backlight time, brightness etc. I found Brightness of 50% to be a comfortable level for general viewing. IR Remote will (presumbly) turn on or off the infrared receiver on the player.

"Configure Menu" allows you to customise the menu.

For "Clock Settings", there seems to be an overlap in function as the "Date & Time" in the "Extras" menu. What is of interest here is "Click In Title", which puts the clock at the top of the menu screens. This is useful since you can see the time at a glance. I would have preferred that, given the large screen, the time be displayed at either the left or right of the menu title bar, instead of completely replacing the menu title (see next picture).

The Zen Vision comes with two themes. I expect Creative would make more themes available for download in future, and even better, offer a theme editor to create custom themes.

Here is the "Dark Blue" theme.

Finally, we come to the "Compact Flash" menu. Unfortunately, I did not have any CompactFlash cards on hand at the time of writing this review.
