Navigation System
The M-20 has a very small, monochrome screen, and the navigation system is vastly different from most players that we are used to.
The player powers on by holding the "Play" button for a few seconds. The display only turns on after about 4 seconds (even after you have let go of the "Play" button), and takes about 17 seconds in all to power on. The main menu options are displayed one item at a time, and are selected horizontally.
Let's begin with the "Navigation" menu.
Selecting it brings up a tree-view of the file system.
Entering into and out of directories is done by the forward and back buttons.
Pressing the "M" button brings up the Options menu.
"Playlist add" will add the currently selected file/directory to the playlist. "Playlist is clear" will clear the current playlist. So if you want to only play the current directory or file, you have to clear the playlist first, then add to the playlist. There is no way to directly play the current selection - you would think pressing "Play" would work, but it does not.
The next screen is "Music".
Selecting it shows a similar view to the "Playlist", but note that in "Music", it contains all the songs on the player.
Next is the "Playlist" screen.

This is a similar view to "Music", but contains only the songs that have been added to the playlist (via the "Navigation" menu).

Next is the "FM Radio".
The "FM Radio" has two modes: "Scan mode" and "Preset mode". In the screen below, it is in "Preset mode", indicated by the "P" on the top left corner.

Pressing the "M" button brings up the option menu. The "Record" function is on the menu.
In "Scan mode", the forward and back buttons scan through the FM frequencies. In "Preset mode", the forward and back buttons scroll through the various preset stations. The catch is that saving preset stations is unnecessarily difficult, and involves jumping between the two modes.
