The Player

Here are some shots of the M-Cody M-20. The M-20 does not have any physical buttons on the front - instead, the controls are operated by the touch-sensitive buttons.

On the right side of the player are the Play/Pause button, reset button, and USB/Line-in connector.

The back of the player sports a smooth, glossy plastic finish.

It may not be obvious from the pictures, but the M-20 is a really small player - even smaller than the iPod nano.

Screen It!

The smooth glossy plastic finish on the M-20 calls for protection against scratches. In fact, there is already a screen protector available, called Screen It! PurpleMoo, the company that produces and markets the Screen It! line of screen protectors kindly sent us a sample of Screen It! designed for the M-20.

The Screen It! screen protector is packed with a hard cardboard backing to prevent the screen protector from being bent or folded. It also comes with detailed instructions on how to apply the protector. There are two pieces in the package, one for the front, and the other for the back.

The first step is to thoroughly clean the player. The M-20, unfortunately, is a dust-magnet, which makes cleaning it a rather tedious process.

The screen protector has two backings. The larger backing comes off first.

Align the screen protector carefully, ensuring it is straight. Also, you would have to be careful to stick it down completely to prevent air bubbles.

The back is designed to stick around the serial number sticker, rather than over. This is to prevent a huge air bubble from sticking over the serial number sticker.

Once again, align the protector and carefully stick it down.

Once done, remove the second backing from the screen protector. Although the second backing is cut to the same size as the actual screen protector, we found it easy to remove the backing.

After removing the second backing, the screen protector itself, which was cut to fit exactly, was invisible to the eye.

The Screen It! screen protector by PurpleMoo is very useful to keep the plastic surface scratch-free, and we highly recommend it. PurpleMoo also produces and sells screen protectors for a wide range of products such as cameras and PDAs.
